Gone Fishin’ Cairns the longest established chartered operator fishing the Cairns Inlet. Established in 1989 we have the knowledge to find that special fish for you.
We utilise a Cairns Custom Craft specifically designed for the estuary. Fully fitted out with live wells, eskies to keep your catch and drinks icy cold. We are equipped with a Garmin 125 SV sounder and GPS.
Powered by twin 70hp outboards we get you to the best spots fast, with a cruising speed of 25 knots a top speed of 32 knots we leave the rest in our wake! Being 8m long at 2.5m wide the boat offers more than enough space for your comfort. We even have a toilet on board!
Our skippers have extensive knowledge of the local area. They have worked on game boats fishing for Marlin, and bottom fishing the reef for Coral Trout but their passion is Estuary Fishing chasing Barras, Fingermark, Jacks and the abundance of other species that inhabit inshore tidal waters.

Fun half day fishing charter
We had a fantastic day out with Russ today. He is very knowledgeable about the area & such a great guy. He is the new owner of Gone Fishing & we would highly recommend him. Highly Recommend – Awesome Day
Went out with Russ today. Very experienced and knowledgeable fisherman and more importantly a great person! We set out in the morning to catch some live bait and saw a croc on the way...I'm still getting my head around how wild and beautiful the Northern part of Australia is. We had a lot of action in some parts of the morning and other parts waiting around for some..that's fishing ya'll! Caught a couple of Finger Marks and lost a few others. I was commenting to Russ about what a top morning I had and then BOOM right at the death of the session caught a beauty at 54cm which I had my hotel cook it up for me. Russ gutted and scaled the fish and was a professional throughout the session. We finished the session with an ice-cold, you guessed it, Great Northern beer. Highly recommend anyone keen to fish in Cairns to go with Russ.

We would like to say thank you to Russ and Tanya for a fantastic day out fishing today. The booking process was so easy and they were the most lovely people!!! Russ knew everything there was to know about fishing and taught us so much throughout the day! The lines were busy all day and we had a few thrilling catches. We had a small group which made it extremely enjoyable in comparison to other charters we have been on in the past. We are experienced fishermen and were super happy going fishing with Russ. He is a knowledgeable and experienced fisherman. Russell cleaned our fish, caught live bait for us too. He could not have been more attentive and The boat was super comfortable with the owner is a pro! We caught fish! Highly, highly recommend - this guy loves what he does.
Awesome experience
What a great morning out fishing with Russell. Our sons caught grunter and giant trevally along with a few other fish. We kept the grunter and took it along to Salt House (recommended by Russell) and they cooked it up for us 7 different ways! What an experience. Russell is really knowledgeable and did everything possible to find some awesome fishing spots. Highly recommend this trip. Watching him net the bait fish was great too. Highlight of our trip to Cairns. Thanks Russell!
